ARTIST BIOGRAPHY AND PROFILE
THOMAS BATEMAN JR. born in Augusta, Georgia, began drawing and painting at age five. His formal training in art began at the Gertrude Herbert Memorial Institute of Art, where he studied the fundamentals of developing watercolor & drawing skills. As a senior high school student, he won many awards for his achievements in art. Upon graduation, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Atlanta where he received Best Portfolio Award. He went on to pursue a career In Graphic Arts. He landed a job working for The Atlanta Fulton Public Library and five years later was hired by BellSouth Advertising And Publishing Company. Even with his professional accomplishments of more than eighteen years in Graphic Arts, BellSouth Advertising & Publishing, Mr. Bateman has maintained his passion and enthusiasm for portraiture. Moreover, he continues to pursue his passion one commission after another. Mr. Bateman currently offers Traditional Oil painting and Graphite drawings for commission. Through the collaboration of client and artist a masterpiece of beauty and skill will result in art that is cherished and honored for many years to come. Mr. Bateman’s art has been shown in Skirt Magazine, July and August Issues 2006, His work has also been featured in Atlanta Journal & Constitution and the Augusta Chronicle Hearald.He has also been involved in many charity projects such as Atlanta Fine Arts League,(Art From The Heart project) (BNAT)BellSouth Network of African-American Telecommunications Professionals and The United Negro College Fund. He continues to make a difference anywhere he can through his art one masterpiece at a time.
